Traditional vs Online Business. Advantages and Disadvantages

Well, firstly as far as running any business goes, whether is be a traditional business or an online business,  it takes dedication, perseverence, focus and a strong ‘Why’…. a purpose.

Why do you want to be in business anyway. What is your purpose. If it is just money, you have already lost. You will never be successful. You will fail. This is the reason why around 90% of business fail because their only focus is making the big bucks. Banks sell money but their focus is value products. This is why most clever banks are worth a squillion. The dumb banks are bailed out by dumb governments. Who pays for their mistakes I wonder…??? Hmmmmm??

Anyway, your focus must always be value. Let the big bucks take care of themselves. They will flow to you if you create value. Simple. Don’t get me wrong, in business the dollars are like oxygen and you realise how important it is when there is not enough. But focusing all of your attention on making the money will take your attention away from the most important thing, and that is value.

Now, back to the subject of traditional business vs online business.

I’ll list the advantages and disadvantages from my opinion and then you can make up your own mind which one suits you.

Traditional Business ie a bricks and mortar store. One that sells stuff when your doors are open. People come in to your store and buy stuff.

An Online Business is where your entire business is basically virtual (if that is the right word) You can’t physically hold it but it exists.

Advantages of a Traditional.

  • You have an asset if you are buying or own the premises.
  • You have free traffic if you are in a shopping mall next to a major retailer
  • You interact face to face with people/customers

Disadvantages of a Traditional Business

  • Staff
  • Rosters
  • Having to be there
  • Insurances
  • Holiday pay for staff (paying them when they are not there)
  • stocktakes
  • the commute every day
  • hidden taxes and expenses
  • upkeep of the store
  • massive rent if near a major retailer
  • security
  • theft (yes, people do steal things)
  • deliveries at odd hours
  • and there is about 100 more…..

Advantages of an Online Business

  • No staff
  • No rosters
  • Not having to be anywhere in particular
  • Minimal insurances
  • No holiday pay
  • No stocktakes or stock
  • No commute
  • No hidden taxes or expenses
  • No store to upkeep
  • No rent
  • No security needed
  • No theft
  • No deliveries
  • Leverage
  • Not selling my time for money
  • Residual income
  • Choice of where I do business. Can be anywhere in the world that has a phone signal
  • More free time
  • Not getting out of my pyjamas if I don’t want to
  • Not getting dressed up in a penguin suit (corporate)
  • And about 100 more…

Disadvantages of an Online Business

In a nutshell you may see that I have seen the light when it comes to business based on my decades of experience.

Online is the future but traditional is necessary for the moment but fading very fast. The strong will survive but the change is brought about by the masses demands. The ease of online is obvious.

Simple effective and profitable due to the lack of necessary expense.

And another thing… Our secret to our success is being focused, being positive at all times (very difficult sometimes) and just not giving in to the nay sayers. Those people will always try to drag you down to their level. This was not an option for us.

Our leadership dream became reality because of our resilience.

We are so determined to continue with our success and that’s not just the financial success, but the emotional and personal development success, nobody but nobody will get in our way.

Either get on and enjoy the ride or get out of the way. This how all successful people feel. They never let ‘average’ or ‘normal’ dictate the terms.

5 Reasons You Aren’t Rich (Yet)

The road to financial freedom is not easy. As soon as you set off on this path, you run into roadblock after roadblock. Many people become disheartened and give up right away. Others plug along for a while, but without results, they soon give up. Only a tenacious few can push forward and become truly rich.

I often meet people who have been following the path for a while and don’t understand why they aren’t any closer to financial freedom. They’ve read the books, taken courses, and can read and interpret the financial column of the newspaper with ease.

Many of them approach me asking, “I’m financially literate, but I still can’t seem to increase my income. What am I doing wrong?”

My answer to them is: “It might not be something you’re doing, but something you’re feeling that’s holding you back.”

Our emotions and behaviors dictate our future more than we care to admit. And sometimes, it’s the things we’re feeling or the attitudes we’re carrying around that are keeping us from moving forward.

Five things holding you back

There are five main reasons why financially literate people may still not develop abundant asset columns that could produce a large cash flow.

They are:

1. Fear

2. Cynicism

3. Laziness

4. Bad habits

5. Arrogance

Most people struggle with many of these factors, whether consciously or unconsciously. Conquering them is not easy, but it is necessary to achieving true wealth.

1) Fear

This is by far the most prevalent reason most people are not wealthy. If you weren’t afraid of anything, what would you do right now that could make you rich? Quit your job? Start your own company? Invest your savings in assets?

So many people spend their time reading and studying and increasing their financial literacy, but when it comes to acting on their knowledge, they balk. They’re afraid.

Fear is understandable. Taking risks, making changes, it’s all scary. It’s alright to feel afraid. What’s not alright is letting your fear overwhelm you to the point that you don’t act. That’s when fear goes from being natural to being a roadblock standing in your way of true freedom.

2) Cynicism

Cynicism is another form of fear. It’s a distrust that prevents you from having the confidence to move forward.

This distrust could be of yourself, and manifest in overwhelming self doubt. It could be paranoia about the markets, or questioning a solid deal, and backing out of an investment at the last minute.

However cynicism manifests itself, it will hold you back. You have to learn to distinguish between a genuine concern and an overblown fear. If you are financially literate, and have done your homework, you have to trust in your ability. You can’t let others talk you out of what you know is right, and you can’t talk yourself out of trusting in your knowledge.

3) Laziness

We all think we know what laziness looks like. Lying on the couch for five hours straight watch Netflix and eating popcorn. If you accuse a hardworking person of being lazy, you’ll get a very angry retort.

But laziness affects all of us, and busy people are often the laziest people of all. People easily become “too busy” to take care of the important things, like their health, their family, and their money. They go to their job and work all day, and are too exhausted when they get home to do anything else.

When they aren’t busy with work or family, they’re often busy watching TV, playing golf, or shopping. Yet deep down they know they are avoiding something important.

That’s the most common form of laziness: laziness by staying busy.

So take a long, honest look at your life. Is your excuse for not investing the fact that you’re too busy? What does that mean? What are you really busy with? And how is that holding you back from financial freedom?

4) Bad habits

Habits control our future. Cultivate bad ones, and your future slips out of your control.

Bad habits are often the worst things holding us back. They’re extremely hard to break; it takes discipline and continued conscious effort.

A lot of people don’t have the discipline to break their bad habits. And worse, many people don’t even realize that their habits are bad in thefirst place. For example, someone who sleeps late on the weekends might think they’re catching up on needed sleep. But that habit is taking away several hours that they could be researching investments or building a side business.

Examine the habits in your life. Some of them might be so ingrained in your routine you don’t notice them. But how are they holding you back?

5) Arrogance

Robert’s rich dad often said, “Every time I have been arrogant, I have lost money. Because when I’m arrogant, I truly believe that what I don’t know is not important.”

I have found that many people use arrogance to try to hide their own ignorance. They bluster through, overcompensating with confidence to hide the fact that they don’t know what they’re doing. Instead of humbly acknowledging where they need to change, they blame other people and circumstances for their own failures.

Put another way, many arrogant people who read this blog probably thought,“That doesn’t apply to me” to every single thing above.

If you can’t be honest and humble with yourself, you don’t have a chance of achieving financial freedom.

The good news

Now for the best part. If you’re suffering from one or more of the above, it means you have a very good chance of being rich. All you have to do is learn to conquer the roadblock holding you back.

Of course, that’s not easy. In fact, it’s incredibly difficult, otherwiseeveryone would be rich. But acknowledging the factors holding you back fromincreasing your wealth is the first step. With practiced effort, you canovercome these bad habits and emotions and find your way to freedom.

Even after three “snoozes” and more than your normal dose of coffee this morning, you’re still drowsy. You’re feeling crabby, rundown, exhausted—and you can’t shake the yawns. Why are you so tired, and why can’t I have the success I deserve?

You probably didn’t get enough sleep last night and you’re not alone. Insufficient sleep is a health epidemic, and one that can have negative effects on your overall health and productivity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Don’t be “just another” statistic. Give these 11 techniques a try instead and reap the benefits of a good night’s sleep:

1. Give yourself a bedtime.

Pick a time at night when you typically start feeling tired and go to sleep every night at that time—even on the weekends. Sticking to a daily sleep routine keeps your biological clock in order so that you’ll sleep more soundly. If you do have to change your sleep pattern, do so in small increments, like going to bed earlier or staying up later by 15 minutes.

2. Move, move, move.

Did you know regular exercise relieves insomnia? According to a study at Northwestern University’s Department of Neurobiology and Physiology, people who got aerobic exercise four times a week improved their quality of sleep—and they were less tired during the day, reported less depressive symptoms and had more vitality.

Keep in mind that while exercise can help you sleep better, you shouldn’t squeeze your workout into the hours before bedtime. Strenuous activity two or three hours before bed can raise the temperature of your body, which makes it harder for you to fall asleep.

3. Unwind.

Make time for a nightly “unwinding” ritual—like reading a book, taking a warm shower bath, preparing for the next day, listening to soothing music. Activities like these will help ease the transition between wakefulness and drowsiness, making you feel more relaxed. But be careful not to overdo it with the electronic gadgets—lights from these devices stimulate the brain, which makes it harder to unwind.

4. Smoke and drink no more.

Smokers are four times less likely to feel well rested after a night’s sleep than nonsmokers, according to a study in the Chest Journal. Why? Because of the stimulating effect of nicotine, as well as withdrawal pangs during the night. The bad habit can also lead to asthma and sleep apnea. So add “quit smoking” to your to-do list.

And while you’re at it, you should consider giving up that nightcap, too. While alcohol might help you fall asleep initially, studies have found that it reduces REM sleep and can even suppress breathing.

5. Build a cave.

Your bedroom should be cool, dark and quiet if you want to get a solid night of sleeping. The temperature should be set around 65 degrees—if room is too hot, it can interfere with your body’s natural dip in temperature throughout the night, disrupting your sleep. You also should make sure there is as little background noise and light as possible—turn off the TV, use low-wattage bulbs in your bedroom, and invest in blackout curtains to keep the room dark.

6. Nap—the right way.

Naps help restore alertness, increase productivity and can be used as a sort of mini-vacation, an escape from reality—which is why organizations like Google and The Huffington Post have places for employees to sleep on the job. While naps are nice in more ways than one, you should try to limit yours to 10-30 minutes per day, preferably in the mid-afternoon—if you nap for too long, you will throw off your sleep pattern.

7. Say no to supersizing.

Stay away from consuming large meals—especially ones that are acidic and spicy—before you hit the hay. Otherwise you’ll struggle to fall asleep because of digestion and heartburn. If you must satisfy your grumbling tummy, choose a snack that combines carbohydrates and calcium or a protein and the amino acid tryptophan to boost serotonin levels. Try a banana with a teaspoon of peanut butter, fruit with low-fat yogurt, or a piece of grain toast with low-fat cheese or turkey.

8. Make it a rule: Your bedroom is for sleeping only.

Your bedroom is where you sleep. It’s not where you watch TV, work or eat. By removing life’s distractions and dedicating the space to slumber, you’ll sleep more peacefully.

9. Sleep solo.                                                                

Dr. John Shepard, director of the Mayo Clinic Sleep Disorders Center, conducted a study in 2001 to see how pets affect the sleep of their owners. What did he find? That “53 percent considered their sleep to be disrupted to some extent every night.” Pets, and kids, aren’t usually sound sleepers. And if they’re sharing a bed with you, you may have a poor night’s sleep, too. It might be hard to say no to that face, but if you can, keep the bed to yourself.

10. Stress less.

When we’re worried, our sleep suffers. Manage your stress by meditating and relaxing before you get in bed. Write down your concerns, delegate tasks and create to-do-lists for the next day so that you can free your mind.

11. Strike a (healthy) pose.

What’s your go-to sleep position—back, side, stomach? Sleeping on your back should be your No. 1 choice because it prevents neck and back pain and reduces acid reflux. If you’re a back-sleeper, though, be sure that you have a puffy pillow so that your head and neck are properly supported. What about side-sleeping? That’s also good for overall health, but you’ll need a thick pillow to fill the space above your shoulder. And stomach sleeping is the worst because it prevents neutral spine position and puts pressure on your joints and muscles—so if you can’t help but sleep facedown, at least get a thin or no pillow at all.

So, sleeping you way to success is not a …um… naughty as it sounds. A good well rested person will think clearer, make decisions quicker, and be nicer to be around. This will dramatically effect your relationships, and we all know that relationships equals success.

When our son turned 2 we did this, a complete media ban. He is now 32 and not knowing about murders, wars, global warming, car crashes, airplane crashes, natural disasters, idiots blowing up innocent people etc etc etc and etc. and everything that CNN (Constantly Negative News) and every other broadcaster puts out there, has not concerned us at all. If anything, it has done more good than harm. The herd will tell you, you have to know, or the news you need to know.  Absolute BS.

If you want to be successful in a way never before experienced, this is a great start. But it takes work and willpower.
